About the Author
James Swartz attended Lawrence University and the University of California before finding his niche in the world of business, where he had great success. But in 1967 he experienced a major epiphany that turned him away from that life and he traveled to India on a spiritual journey, searching for the path to enlightenment. James Swartz' 2009 book How To Attain Enlightenment was the clearest most helpful work I had ever found on Vedanta but he has surpassed that with this book; fleshing out the details and adding further depth of understanding. A true gem of self-inquiry. I know of no better introduction and exposition of Vedanta except spending time with James in person.

For me this book was a clear concise text on the science of reality based on traditional Vedanta teachings.
With his refreshing contemporary style of writing, he simplifies non-dual knowledge into a
easily understandable format that Westerners can grasp.
What I appreciated most after reading this book, is that James Swartz has spent his entire lifetime gleaning the
best from the ancient Vedanta writings and texts providing us with a comprehensive system of of how to set ourselves free.
In the process, he has become the best teacher on the subject worldwide.
His website offers volumes of information for free. I have not known any other
teachers like him who have no agenda other than to serve to awaken humanity. I have attended his classes
(He doesn't charge a fee.) and have grown exponentially in what I have gained from his teachings.
What better opportunity in this lifetime than to receive the knowledge of who we truly are -- this book has it all for the taking.

Cristina Mora answers both these questions and details the scope of this phenomenon in�Making Hispanics. She uses an organizational lens and traces how activists, bureaucrats, and media executives in the 1970s and '80s created a new identity category—and by doing so, permanently changed the racial and political landscape of the nation.

Some argue that these cultures are fundamentally similar and that the Spanish language is a natural basis for a unified Hispanic identity. But Mora shows very clearly that the idea of ethnic grouping was historically constructed and institutionalized in the United States. During the 1960 census, reports classified Latin American immigrants as “white,” grouping them with European Americans. Not only was this decision controversial, but also Latino activists claimed that this classification hindered their ability to portray their constituents as underrepresented minorities. Therefore, they called for a separate classification: Hispanic. Once these populations could be quantified, businesses saw opportunities and the media responded. Spanish-language television began to expand its reach to serve the now large, and newly unified, Hispanic community with news and entertainment programming. Through archival research, oral histories, and interviews, Mora reveals the broad, national-level process that led to the emergence of Hispanicity in America.

Excellent Exploration of the Social Construction of Social Identity

One of those aspects this work evidences is the malleability that social identities have and how they are shaped by powerful institutional forces to satisfy some basic economic, social and political needs. The strands that link together Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans and Cubans show how conscious actors can influence how their own representation in the American national landscape is achieved. It highlights significant individuals, and organizations in their efforts through advocacy, research and activism which has led to the emergence of a group that is now perceived as a pivotal in our electoral process, in the future of our educational system and our economy. Ironically, then these social categories lead to social identities that are the encasement for the racialization of Latinos into pseudo racial ethnic groups.

It feels to me like a competent view looking BACKWARD without a particularly open ...

I found the text to be very competently presented. But I was hoping author Kevin might have spent more time/space describing non-conventional engine designs that could power future vehicles rather than just engine designs which have already captured market share. Not even a mention in this presentation about piston engines with non-conventional crankshaft/rod configurations or crankshaft replacements or 6-cycle engines which may lower BSFC or non-poppet valve configurations. It feels to me like a competent view looking BACKWARD without a particularly open mind toward promising future design evolutionary paths.

I expect future books covering this design arena will include and perhaps be dominated by one of more of the many promising future design paths. Failing to even mention some of the most promising of those possible design strategies to current engine design students as "mind candy" to hopefully trigger development of new and better design paths feels like an error of omission to me.

It's an ok book, but very thin for the price. I missed that it's only 200 pages.

Way more in much greater detail for the same money is BOTH volumes of "The Internal Combustion Engine in Theory and Practice by Charles Fayette Taylor

What Happened?

When I started reading this story it had so much promise and then around the 3rd and 4th chapters it takes a wrong turn.I am all for HEA in all the books I read but you first have to get there.I didn't feel a connection with either character and what was happening.I think something is missing a second look by the writer wouldn't hurt.

I had forgotten about the unicorns in this story so they were a pleasant surprise. A new take on incubi, mixed species matings, and fertility.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The world that Scarlet Hyacinth created is amazing. Mackenzie is a truly strong man who had a bad hand dealt to him. I will continue to read this series.

Good Read...

This was a very enjoyable read I really enjoyed from beginning to end it had it's crazy moments, sad moments and Hot moments all made for one good read I did think that the story ended to soon I really wanted to know if Mackenzie was able to forgive his adoptive parents and brother for lying and deceiving him. And I also wanted to find out if Mackenzie and Julian were having a boy or girl just a few of my questions left unanswered hopefully they'll be answered in the next story.
