Judy Johnson, PhD, a Partner with the Continuous Learning Group (CLG), applies behavioral science to help leaders create environments that dramatically improve organizational performance and profitability. Johnson coaches executives on personal leadership and executing strategies through pinpointing key behaviors that lead to success.

Les Dakens, retired Senior Vice President of People for CN, was responsible for strategic direction of CN's Human Resources and Labour Relations in North America and worldwide. Prior to joining CN, Dakens was Vice President of Human Resources for the North American division of the H.J. Heinz Company.

Peter Edwards, Vice President of Human Resources for CN, is responsible for human resources, culture change, implementation, leadership, and organizational development. He assisted CN's CEO in writing two landmark books for employees and designed CN's "Railroad MBA" program.

The exploits of this man were almost superhuman. His ability to step inside the heads of tribesmen and a wide variety of animals is astounding and insightful. He provides insight into African mindsets and culture I'm still processing. I'd call this a must read if you are interested in exceptional exploits or wish for insight into African cultures.

I first read this book to my 6th grade class in 1963. They loved it! I have recommended it to several reading groups. Jean Pierre Hallet made a life long impression on me with his autobiography.

Remarkable books from a more remarkable man

I had the remarkable experience of meeting and speaking with this gentleman in southern California during the 1960s. I also went to high school with his two sons. This man's adventures and actual life put any 'Indiana Jones' comparison to shame. Mr. Hallet was the real deal, he LIVED the life and the adventure.

About the Author
PETER FREUCHEN (1886-1957) was an explorer, journalist, magazine editor, and lecturer. He wrote several popular books recounting his courageous travels, including Arctic Adventure (page xx). In 1956 he won the television game show "The $64,000 Question" by using his vast knowledge of the world's oceans.

Book of the Seven Seas

I am Danish, and I grew up reading Peter Freuchen's books and tales about the man. Anyone who has read his books knows that he had a rather lose understanding of what truth means, in other words, he was not free from embellish facts a bit, and that was one of his qualities that has endeared him to so many over the years. That been said, the man had a wealth of knowledge and I would guess most people would learn something from this book. It is easy reading because he did not attempt, or did not possess the skills, to make this book into more than a light factual work about wind, weather, currents, famous sailors and navigators, ships and a lot more. Personally, I learned a lot about the currents and how they affect not only the weather, but also our lives. I can strongly recommend this book.
