Forging another version of "urbanism" is a bit forced for me and tries to read too much into landscape design as a form of urban structure. of course it is but attempting to provide a new and competing label to the now-tired "new urbanist" packaging approach does not work for me. Landscape architecture as a key aspect of urban design--yes; a new theory--no.

Unapproachable

I'm not sure why, but many architects and seemingly landscape urbanists feel the need to write about relatively straight forward concepts in these totally unapproachable and molasses like vocabularies (meaning the flow of the read can be smooth, but too often gets bogged up in sticky confounding terminology). Its unnecessary, the heart of the text is fantastic if you can push through the jargon. These concepts will continue to be unapproachable until one of these folks decides to write a book that people can read.
