Highly recommend it

Whether or not you choose to use the MKSAP, I would highly recommend getting this book. I did use it as an accompaniment. I would read the given section in this book, do the MKSAP questions, and then read all the relevant answers. Long story short, using this, MKSAP, and Step Up over my 3 month rotation landed me a 97 scaled.
More specifically, I found this book to be very complementary to MKSAP. You might be thinking that is obvious, but I have often experienced books like this where it essentially rehashes the question answers. Not so here. Instead, this book chooses to focus on the major diseases and gives a concise but detailed overview. What this means is that you sacrifice breadth of diseases for depth on the major ones. Each section is written by a different faculty author, so they are of varying quality. The emphasis is on clinically useful knowledge (such as approaches to abdominal pain), rather than just a litany of facts.
Thus, from a rotation point of view, I wish I had used this earlier. It would have helped me clinically. From a test taking point of view, using this in the couple weeks before the shelf was very helpful.

For those who want a textbook, not just qBank.

I bought this with the companion question book for my medicine shelf and Step 2. They've been really helpful. Some people will just use qbanks but I felt that I spent so much time researching the answers on qBank that I might as well have a condensed textbook. This makes it easy to quickly go through systems and recall all the important bits with succinct explanations. I plan on using uworld's qBank after I finish with this and I feel it will make the qBank go a lot smoother.
The one thing I wish they did was provide the pictures in line with the text, instead of on the colored sheets at the end, but I know this was to save money.
